I am a woman that wears many tiaras (“hats” just sounds so plain). Daughter, wife, mom of quadruplets plus one (this covers both Fun-Mom and Not-Fun-Mom), Irish dancer, Irish dance teacher, growing Christian, smart-muth, beer-lover, military spouse, Sudoku addict, gangsta. . . OK, maybe not so much of a gangsta, but when I get in that Honda Odyssey with the Children’s Bible Songs boomin’ out the stereo, I’m feeling pretty dope.

I'm Katie. I'm married to Joe. We have a two year old. We both work full time. We have a house. This blog is a documentation of our home's transformation from dumpy to comfy. :) We've put our heart and soul into this home for the last 4 years and I wanted a place to share our before and afters!

Blogger - Uncover Ostomy

Squirrel: Jessica Grossman
Chapter: Zeta Chi - The University of Western Ontario, Canada
Initiation Year: 2007
Current City: Toronto/London, Ontario, Canada
Hometown: Toronto, Ontario, Canada
Blog: Uncover Ostomy
Blog Categories: Ostomy, Health, Personal stories

The blog was created in a join effort with IDEAS [Intestinal Disease Education and Awareness Socity] to promote awareness for the ostomy. I [Jessica] created the concept [and later renamed] Uncover Ostomy for a grade 12 media project. The project was to pick an NPO and promote them. I chose ostomies because I have one myself. What is an ostomy?

An ostomy is a surgically created opening from an internal organ such as the intestines or ureters to an external point on the body, usually in the abdomen, so that diseased or damaged portions of the patients’ organ can be removed or treated for disease. The piece that is created to pass through from inside the body to outside is called a stoma. Bodily excretions such as stool, mucus and urine pass through the stoma into a special bag on the outside of the body that the wearer empties on a regular basis.

I use the blog to talk about the normalcy of an ostomy and the fact that I can live a normal life with one. I do blog about my ostomy including tips and tricks on how to manage it, but I mainly blog about my everyday life, especially being part of Alpha Gamma Delta. Tons of my blogs have been about recruitment, charity events, and becoming president of my chapter.

So far my blog has reached over 23,000 unique viewers and gets an average of 5,000 views a month.

Welcome to the launch of the Alpha Gamma Delta Blog Network

Welcome to the launch of the Alpha Gamma Delta Blog Network, I've had a tremendous time putting together this page and can't wait to see all the amazing blogs written by our talented sisters. Read below to find out about the network and why it has been created.

Our Mission

To connect Alpha Gamma Delta sisters within the blogosphere creating and rekindling friendships.

Who I am?

I'm Kirstin Long a recent alumna of Belmont University in Nashville, Tn and the Theta Tau chapter of Alpha Gamma Delta. An Entrepreneurship and Marketing major and avid blogger I saw the need for a way for Alpha Gams who blog to connect with each other. We develop friendships with the blogs we read and our readers and what better way to get to know sisters from across the country (and Canada =) than to be able to find their blogs.

What Inspired this?

After reading Preppy Pink Crocodile for nearly six months I discovered via one of her posts that she was an Alpha Gam, which of course was very exciting, then I realized how many Alpha Gams I knew who blogged, and thought maybe I'm on to something.

What I hope this will become...

I hope that the Alpha Gamma Delta Blog Network will:
  • Provide a listing of all blogs written by Alpha Gamma Delta sisters.
  • Provide supportive blogging community
  • Offer guest posts highlighting sisters achievements
  • Offer general interest posts relating to Alpha Gamma Delta, Squirrels, Greek Life, & Blogging
  • Develop and grow into what members desire.
Have a idea on ways to make the Alpha Gamma Delta Blog Network even better? Leave us a comment below.

Spread the Word
